About Us

The African American Cultural Heritage Collection (AACHC)

The AACHC features an extensive collection of African Americans’ rich history in America. The collection features multiple traveling exhibits of this great history to further our mission of informing audiences of the rich, un-credited and under-acknowledged history of African Americans to world history and culture. The AACHC is a historic collection that celebrates the unmatched strength of African American heritage, history, and culture.

It consists of about 10,000 irreplaceable pieces of American antiquity and counting. Our impressively vast and diverse collection origins begin with an original 15th Century map of Africa and spans all the way to our most contemporary piece which is the very first publishing contract of the late hip-hop legend, Tupac Amaru Shakur, which is signed three times by the artist.

The collection contains artifacts of:

  • Madam C.J. Walker

  • Malcolm X

  • March on Washington

  • Marcus Mosiah Garvey & UNIA

  • Martin Luther King, Jr.

  • Mary McLeod Bethune

  • Medgar Evers

You got what's like if you had Jesus' robe.

"Geez, you don't know how happy I am! You got what's like if you had Jesus' robe. What you have..whew! This is one of the happiest days of my life! This is your special thing.

--Dick Gregory to our founder, Eric Majette, Jr. about the African American Cultural Heritage Collection.

This was our second and last visit with each other after knowing each other for two years. This visit we spent the entire weekend in Atlanta while he was doing a comedy tour. I filmed the comedy tour for him that weekend. It was an extreme honor, exclaimed Majette.

It is my life’s work and passion to seek, study, present, preserve and protect the history and contributions of our all of our ancestors throughout the diaspora.

You will be 'The Keeper of the Jewels'

Let me tell you something where you are important... I don't know anybody Black that has the sensitivity to what happened...there's a reason for them [the artifacts] coming to you... when you stop and think about it...Man, I'm so blown out. You will be the 'Keeper of the Jewels!'"

--Dick Gregory to our founder, Eric Majette, Jr.

"These amazing words were bestowed upon me from the legendary Dick Gregory not long before he passed away after seeing many pieces of the collection," said Majette.
